KINGPINS { THE PRICE OF POWER }
KINGPINS takes place in a single isolated city know as INVICTE. It's a big city, think....Tokyo! Or Hong Kong, Melbourne, London, Coppenhagen, you get the idea. But bigger than Hong Kong. As for anime equivalents? Think Academy City from the To Aru no Kakugu Railgun/Magical Index series. The time period is slightly in the future, but only slightly. Invicte has cool maglev transport systems and some other stuff, but people are still using laptops and listening to MP3 players. Basically, some cool advanced tech, like holograms and maglevs (which are suddenly economically plausible on a large scale, amazing!) but nothing too far-fetched (like transporters, laser guns, lightsabers etc).
Unlike the rest of the World, Invicte is a single city state located on a man-made island roughly the size of Taiwan. Like Tokyo, it's huge, a giant sprawling metropolis. Its connected to the outside world by a skytram/maglev system. It is known as the world's foremost academic hotspot. People from all places come to Invicte to study, work and research. On the surface it seems like a high-tech modern city, but it's actually the seat of the REGIS. As a result a lot of people that want to become the REGIS gather and fight for the title. Beneath the veneer of this city, a secret battle royale is taking place. |

The Underground
Before a well timed and miraculous discovery that made maglev possible and economical, Invicte was building a underground subway system. The system was completely dug out and finished, missing only the trains themselves, before the whole plan was aborted in favor of maglev tracks.
It's called the Underground. Nowadays people gather at abandoned stations and party. Others make bases and clubs. Rumor has it, if you wander in the right direction you'll be able to see something truly out of the world... SHINIKISEN.NET
It's a website run by Grimoire and Tori. Tori is website admin who runs the thing and Grimoire is this Power-holder who has this really convenient power where she knows all the happenings in the games. Basically as soon as something happens, say a battle starts, she knows. And when someone wins, she also knows. And vice-versa. She's a big encyclopedia. Very useful. Also, she's the one who assigns the codenames, so...
The site has a ranking that gets updated. It's very widespread to the point where people just refer to others by their ranking numbers. |
